I grew up outside of Philadelphia, graduated from Drexel University and moved to Northern Virginia after graduation to start a retail career with Hechts Department Store (now Macys).   I was with them for 9 years and held various management positions including spending time as a  buyer, a merchandise manager and even time on the administrative side as an executive recruiter.

Interestingly, when my wife and I moved from our first home, a condo in Falls Church, to a single family home in  Vienna in 1989, I was fascinated by the process and decided to make a career change.  It was a pretty dramatic change going from a structured corporate environment to being self employed but I have never looked back.

My wife of 27 years and I have raised 2 boys.  One graduated from Ithaca College and is now working in the television industry in LA.  And the other is currently attending Lehigh University.

Outside of real estate, I have been involved in several charitable endeavors.  Most notably I have been  with Habitat of Humanity of Northern Virginia for well over a decade.  I first worked on a few homes, then joined the family selection committee, was asked to join the board and served as board chairman from July 2008 to July 2010.  I now serve on the board as past chairman.

And, if you spend any time with me, you will soon learn one of my passions is baseball.  I spent 12 years coaching in Vienna Little League as my boys made their way through the organization.  I enjoy attending Nats games and will even catch  minor league and professional games on vacations.  But I enjoy all sports and have delighted in watching  my boy’s sports teams – from my older son’s wrestling career to my younger son’s baseball journey which now has him playing in college.

(Hey, I am also a Words With Friends addict.  If you want to challenge me in a game, my screen name is Joe on the Go.)

I wanted to share a little about myself because a real estate transaction involves a fairly close relationship between the Realtor and client.  You need to know about me and my approach to the business but, more importantly, I will need to learn about you.  My goal is to see the world through your eyes.  By having an open and candid relationship, I can best understand your dreams and goals and develop the right strategy to get you where you want to go.

I have been a full time Realtor since 1989 and associated with RE/MAX Presidential since 1993.  Over that time, I’ve won many awards (Lifetime Member of the NVAR Top Producers Club, Member of the RE/MAX Hall of Fame, etc.) but what I am most proud of is that over 80% of my business the last few years has come from past clients and referrals.

I have always felt that the awards, the production numbers and well, even the income earned, are simply a by product of providing top notch service.   A home purchase or sale is one of the biggest financial transactions in a person’s life.   Every buyer and seller, regardless of price point, deserves first class service, attention to detail and a “no surprises” approach to the transaction.  I strive to deliver beyond expectations in every transaction.  First of all, every client deserves such service and, selfishly, if I want to continue to have my business based on repeat business from past clients and referrals, I, quite simply, need to make you so outrageously happy that you are excited to introduce me to your friends, relatives and colleagues.

Yes, buying a home is serious and, yes, buying a home can be one of the more stressful life events but  I will do all I can to  take the stress out of the transaction and also make sure we have fun along the way.  Know I will be by your side as your advocate to ensure  you get the best possible results.

I love to talk real estate. Always feel free to contact me any time with any real estate questions.
